Christians
Makurdi – The Catholic Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Wilfred Anagbe, has charged Christians to emulate Jesus Christ by sharing love and performing acts of charity during the Lenten period which began on Wednesday.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi, Anagbe said that lent, the 40-day fasting period by Christains, was a time for sober reflections and spiritual rejuvenation.

He charged Christians to continue to show faithfulness to God, and use the period, which began with the Ash Wednesday, to care for the less-privileged.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

He commended the ongoing measures by President Muhammadu Buhari to revive the economy and warned Christians to refrain from dragging the church to the mud by indulging in acts of corruption.

According to the bishop, no true Christian will indulge in such shameful acts of looting the treasury or other acts of personal aggrandizement to the detriment of the wellbeing of other Nigerians.
