Katsina, March 4, 2016 (NAN) The Katsina State Board of Internal Revenue, has placed order for the production of 10, 000 motorcycles number plates to be sold at 50 percent discount to motorcycle operators in he state.
The Executive Chairman of the board, Alhaji Aminu Abdulmumini, made the disclosure on Friday in Katsina during an interactive session with newsmen.
He said that the board had reduced the price of plate numbers from N6, 500 to N3, 200 to encourage riders register their motorcycles.
“The board wrote to the state government and solicited for permission to reduce the price of plate numbers so that many motorcyclists will register their vehicles.
“The government gave the board the approval to sell the number plates at 50 per cent of its normal price,’’ he said.
The chairman said that prior to the development; some operators had not been registering their motorcycles.
He said that with the reduction in the price, board had sold over 5,000 number plates in the month of February alone.
Abdulmumini said that the government had extended the deadline for operators to buy the subsidized number plates to April.
He said that the government would assist motorcyclists register their machines to avoid being impounded by security agents.
He urged them to seize the opportunity to register their motorcycles. (NAN)
