KWARE (Sokoto State ) – Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State on Monday said that about 1,000 indigent students of the state were currently pursuing various academic programmes in various universities abroad.
They are being sponsored by the government.
Wamakko announced this at the inauguration of Hamma Ali Road in Kware Local Government Area of the state.
He said that the students were studying medicine, pharmacy and engineering, among others.
He said that the state government was committed to producing the needed manpower to develop the state.
Wamakko said that already 240 ward primary health centres had been equipped and provided with ambulances to ensure smooth and effective health care delivery in the state.
He said that each of the 23 local government areas had been provided with a standard general hospital to address the health care needs of the people.
He said that the measure was part of the state government’s resolve to take health care services to the doorsteps of all residents.
The governor solicited the support of the people by reporting any outbreak of epidemics to the nearest hospital for prompt medical attention.
He said that all the health institutions in the state were provided with modern facilities, to ensure qualitative health care delivery.
Wammako called on the residents to continue to live in peace with one another and to report any person or group of people suspected to be criminals to the nearest security offices.
