HOUSTON – A record 108,300 people, including 2,500 Nigerians, attended the just-concluded Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), held in Houston, Texas, the organisers said.
A NAN correspondent covering the conference quotes the organisers as saying that the figure represented about 3.3 per cent increase over the 104,800 attendance figure recorded in 2013.
Similarly, 2,568 companies, representing 43 countries, including 163 new exhibitors participated in the event. Forty one of the companies are from Nigeria.
According to Ed Stokes, chairman of OTC, this year’s event featured nine panel sessions, 29 executive keynote presentations and 308 technical papers.
Stokes said that speakers were drawn from major independent and national operators as well as federal and regional government officials.
He said that the annual OTC dinner was attended by more than 1,000 industry leaders and conference attendees.
The chairman said that the OTC 2014 Distinguished Achievement Award was presented to Carl Arne Carlsen, while the Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, Organisations and Institutions was awarded to British Petroleum.
He added that the OTC Heritage Award was given to Noble Energy’s Susan Cunningham.
The 2015 edition of the OTC has been slated to hold from May 4 to May 7 at the Reliant Park in Houston, Texas. (NAN)
