Dutse – Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, Jigawa Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, said the Jigawa Golden Stars FC was determined to move up to premiership next season.
Ibrahim said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Dutse.
He explained that the management of the team has taken proactive measures to ensure that the club secures promotion to the premiership next this season.
The commissioner noted that the state government was in full support of the team in order to achieve the desired goals.
He said the first step we have taken is to ensure that the team was registered, all of our players registered, numbered and grouped by the management of NPL.
“Also, his Excellency has approved the formation of management for the team to superintend over the affairs of the team under the chairmanship of Air Commodore Abubakar Sadeeq (rtd).
“So I believe by now they must have gone far with their preparations,” the commissioner said.
According to him, the team is fully ready in all respects to face the challenges ahead of it.
“We are ready in all respects for challenges ahead because the players are in high spirit and the government is fully backing them.
“We will give them all the motivation they need because our destination is not to remain in division 1 but to be promoted to the premier league.
“We want to be in the premier League in 2017, 2018, 2019 and many more,” he said.
He further told NAN that the management of the team had been restructured for better performance and progress of the team.
The commissioner, however, pointed out that despite the fact the financial preparations for the team was very low, the government was doing everything possible to provide all necessary financial support to the team.
“Though we have challenges of finances, but we are trying, despite the facts that the financial preparation is very low.
