LAGOS – Sixteen of the 66 schools featuring at the ongoing Lagos State Secondary Schools Handball Competition have qualified to proceed to the quarter final stage on day-three of the game.
The Match Commissioner, Dikko Danjuma, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that 16 and 17 matches were played in Courts A and B by the participating schools.
He explained that the matches were played simultaneously to accommodate the number of schools at the competition, holding at the Mobolaji Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos.
He said “the two available courts afforded us a good platform to accommodate the large number of schools that registered in this competition.
“Court A and court B accommodated 32 schools and 34 schools respectively.
“We now have 16 schools that will be jolting for the quarter finals tomorrow.’’
Danjuma added that the players exhibited high level of performance, which created an enabling environment for talent discovery.
Talent discovery, he said, was the aim of the competition and that the players played in conformity with the rules of the game.
According to him, the players are well kitted and exhibited good sense of discipline.
“We have schools from Ijanikin, Ajah, Ikorodu and others.
