17-yr-old remanded in prison for allegedly attempting to defile minor

SANGO-OTA – A 17-year-old, David Leo, who allegedly attempted to defile a 15-year-old girl, was on Wednesday remanded by an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.

Leo was arraigned on a one-count charge of attempting to rape a minor in his house on March 16 at 8.00 p.m.

The prosecutor, Insp Peter Molokwu, told the court that the accused resided at No. 1 Ajuwon Road, Ota.

He said that the offence contravened section 221 of the Criminal Code, Vol 1 Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs Titi Bello, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending the receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.

She adjourned the case till Monday for consideration of bail application. (NAN)
