Yola – Two factions of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have commenced sale of nomination forms to aspirants wishing to contest the local government elections in June in Adamawa
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that former executive under Chief Joel Madaki has been selling the forms to aspirants.
Similarly, the new executive that emerged last week under Alhaji Bobboi Umar had also commenced sale of the forms.
The Madaki-led executive claims to have one more year to go in its tenure. It is selling the nomination forms for N170, 000 and N50,000 for chairmanship and councillorship respectively.
The Umar-led executive is selling chairmanship form for N110,000 and that of councillorship for N35,000.
The Organizing Secretary of the Madaki executive who still operates from the state party secretariat, Malam Abdullahi Prambe, cautioned aspirants against purchasing nomination forms from the Umar-led executive, describing its emergence as unconstitutional.
On its part, Umar-led executive said the conduct of state congress in Yola by a committee from Abuja last week signified the end of the Madaki executive.
The Organizing Secretary of Umar-led executive, Chief Felix Tangwami, urged those who purchased forms from Madaki executive to tender their bank teller and receipt to the new executive to be captured in upcoming party primaries.
Tangwami warned aspirants from purchasing forms from Madaki executive, adding that many aspirants had started coming to the new executive under Umar to obtain form.
“Many aspirants have seen the reality and are now coming to obtain forms from our office”, Tangwami said.
Meanwhile, many PDP members have raised concern over the development which they said needed to be addressed before it could have negative effect on the party’s chances in June 25 local government election. (NAN)
