LAGOS – Two hotel employees, who allegedly forged a receipt and stole N343,090 from their employer, on Thursday appeared before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Danley Nwagbara, 47, and Philip Ezeoke, 28, both residents of Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, forgery and stealing.
The Prosecutor, ASP Soji Ojaokomo, told the court that the accused, both employees of First View Luxury Hotel Nig. Ltd., committed the offenses on March 12, at Sunfit Hotel, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.
Ojaokomo said the accused with one other at large, forged a receipt to steal N343,090, property of First View Luxury Hotel Nig. Ltd.
He said the two hotels were owned by one Mr Emmanuel Ishola.
The prosecutor said the offenses contravened Section 285, 363 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sections 285 and 363 each prescribes three years jail term for stealing and forgery.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, granted each of the accused bail in the such of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case untill Jan.12, 2015 for trial.(NAN)
