Okitipupa (Ondo State),- The Police in Ondo State on Wednesday arraigned 20-year-old John Ayodeji and John Edarokoya (60), in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting Ilesanmi and Ige Omogunwa.
The accused, of no fixed addresses and whose means of livelihood were not stated, are standing trial on a one-count charge of assault.
The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused on June 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Methodist School, Ode-Irele, unlawfully assaulted both Ilesanmi and Ige Omogunwa.
He said that the accused tore the clothes and also inflicted severe injuries on the Omogunwas, which landed them in an undisclosed hospital in Okitipupa.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
Orogbemi said that the offence contravened Section 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20, 000 each and a surety each in like sum, with another sum of N10, 000 for the treatment of the Omogunwas.
He, however, transferred the case to the Irele Magistrates’ Court for further hearing. (NAN)
