LAGOS – Two men, Waziri Yuguda and Samson Hamman, were on Monday arraigned before an Ebute-Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly conspiring to steal church property.
Yuguda, 21, a squatter in the church and Hamman, 24, of no fixed address, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and dishonestly receiving stolen items.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Adam Cousin, told the court that Yuguda on Sept. 23, conspired with Hamman to steal property belonging to Christ Kingdom Citizen International Church at No. 43, Coker Road, Coker, Orile Lagos.
Cousin said that Yuguda, who had recently relocated to Lagos, saw posters of the church and called the pastor explaining to him that he just converted to Christianity and needed a place to sleep.[eap_ad_2]
He said that after the pastor `took’ Yuguda as a member of the church and gave him accommodation, he conspired with Hamman to steal church property worth N150, 000.
The prosecutor said that Yuguda stole an electronic keyboard, piano, one piano sustain pedal, a pair of drum stick and one computer mouse pad.
He listed other items stolen by the accused as visa phone internet modem, one DSTV mobile, and a pair of black suit, all valued at N150, 000.
Cousin explained that Hamman dishonestly received the stolen property from Yuguda, and that the offences contravened sections 409, 285 and 326 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr K. O. Ogundare granted them bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with one surety each in like sum, and adjourned the case until Oct.13 for trial. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
