IKORODU (Sundiata Post) – Lagos State Two men, Aderogba Badejo, 25, and Julius Emmanuel 25, were on Monday, arraigned in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a submersive pumping machine.
The defendants, whose addresses were not given, were facing a three-count charge of conspiracy to wit felony, wiful damage and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp Ahmed Sanni, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan.24 at about 3p.m. at Ibudo Isinmi Street, Ire Akindana Selewu, Igbogbo Area in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Sanni said that the defendants stole one submersive pumping machine valued N270,000 and unlawfully damaged seven pipes valued N150,000, property of the complainant, one Mr Nelson Omike.
He also said the residents of the area, who apprehended the defendants while they were trying to sell the machine, informed the owner who later reported the matter to the police.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 411, 350 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. R. Onilogbo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
Onilogbo adjourned the case until Feb. 13 for mention. (NAN)
