Sango-Ota ( – Two men, Adebola Kazeem and Michael Codjo, were on Thursday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly breaking into a house with the intention to steal.
Kazeem, 25, and Codjo, 22, whose addresses were unknown, are facing a two-count charge of attempting to steal and burglary.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 12 at about 12.00 p. m. at No. 7 Ikosi Road, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota.
He alleged that the accused broke into the house of the complainant, Moshood Okanlawon, with the intention to steal, but unfortunately they were caught by neighbours and handed them over to the police.
Mustapha said that the offences contravened Sections 410 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap (38), Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, denied committing the offences.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted them bail in the sum of N200, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
He directed that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.
The sureties should also show evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until Oct. 3 for further hearing.
