2 men docked for unlawful possession of pistol

Ibadan – Two men, Oragbade Adekunle, 24, and Adigun Idowu, 24, have appeared  before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan for unlawful possession of English pistol.

Oragbade and Adigun, of undisclosed address, were standing trial on one-count charge of unlawful possession of pistol.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Phillip Amusan, told the court that on Feb. 5, at about 4:00p.m. the defendants  were  in unlawful possesion of Insight Laser English pistol.

Amusan said the pistol is with Serial No. KAK 7774 with intent to use it to commit felony which contravened Section 417 (D) of the Criminal Code of Oyo State 2000.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Mumeen Babatunde, appeared for the defendants.

The Magistrate, Mrs Odunola Latunji, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case untill March 25, for mention

NAN reports that the offence attracts three years’ imprisonment if found guilty.
