Ado-Ekiti -Two men, Ojo Omoniyi, 32, and Okeowo Seyi, 36, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged burglary and stealing.
The defendants, whose addresses were unknown are facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Aina Ayodeji, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Aug.19 at about 4:30 a.m., along Ifaki road in Ifisin-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants broke into the apartment of the complainant, one Olofitila Bimbo.
“The defendants stole the following items: Three tyres with rim valued at N21,000, 11 rubbers of rice valued at N11,000, 20 rubbers of garri valued at N6,000,” Ayodeji said.
He alleged that the defendants also stole clothes valued at N7,000, one motor battery valued at N15,000 and N20,000 cash belonging to the complainant.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 411 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Ayodeji asked the court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Abiola Adegboyega, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Sept. 23 for hearing. (NAN)
