Masaka (Nasarawa State) – Two motorcyclists, James Danjuma, 27, and Peter James, 25, on Tuesday, appeared before a Masaka Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
The defendants, who reside at Jankawa, Masaka area of the state, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Frank Swem, told the court that one Micheal Tyaokaa, a resident of the same area, reported the matter at the Divisional Police Station, Masaka on Aug. 23.
Swem said that Tyaokaa bought a motorcycle and gave it to the first defendant (Danjuma) for commercial purpose.
He alleged that on Aug. 21, Danjuma conspired with the second defendant (James) to steal the motorcycle.
The prosecutor said that during police interrogation, the defendants confessed to committing the crime.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Yakubu Ishaku, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N120, 000 each, with one reliable surety each in like sum.
Ishaku ordered that the sureties must deposit two passport-size photographs.
He adjourned the case to Sept. 11 for hearing. (NAN)
