2 teenagers docked for punching off woman’s teeth

Lagos – Two teenagers, who allegedly assaulted a 27-year-old woman, Mrs Damilola Akinbowale and punched off her incisors, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The accused — a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, are students and live with their parents at 8, Balogun Ilawe St., Dopemu, a suburb of Lagos.

They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Habibat Sule, told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 29, 2015 at the accused’s residence.

Sule said a fight broke out among the accused’s parents and the complainant, Akinbowale.

“The accused took sides with their parent and they beat up the complainant and removed her teeth.’’

The offences contravened Sections 244 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N25, 000 with one surety each in like sum.

The case was adjourned to Jan. 13 for mention. (NAN)
