Kaduna – A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced a 20-year-old labourer, Suleiman Isah, to two months imprisonment for criminal trespass and attempted theft.
Isah, a resident of Barnawa in Kaduna, was convicted and sentenced over charges bordering on criminal trespass and attempt to steal.
The convict had pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Dauda John, however gave Isah an option of N3, 000 fine, and warned him to desist from committing crime.
The prosecutor, Mr Zaharaddeen Musa, had told the court that one Shehu Idris of Narayi Kaduna, reported the matter at the Barnawa Police Station on Jan. 6.
He said the convict acted in a dubious manner and criminally trespassed into Junior Secondary School, Barnawa with intent to steal.
He further said while Isah attempted to escape, he was chased and arrested, adding that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 342 and 287 of the Penal Code.
