ADO-EKITI – An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced a 20-year-old man, Sunday Peter, to three years in prison for stealing six pieces of Ankara cloth.
The Chief Magistrate, Idowu Ayenimo, sentenced Peter to three years in prison without an option of fine.
The convict, of no fixed address, was arraigned on a charge of theft.
The prosecutor, Mr Sunday Onwuchukwa, told the court earlier that the accused committed the offence on Oct.15 at about 9 p.m. at Oriapata area of Ado-Ekiti.
Onwuchukwa said the accused broke into one Mr Olarewanju Jamiu’s shop and stole the 12 pieces of Ankara cloth.
He said that the accused was also in possession of one Star Time decoder suspected to have been stolen.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 430 of the criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charge. (NAN)
