ABUJA – The organisers of the 39th Edition of The Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant said on Wednesday that it has commenced the search for the 2014 Queen.
A statement from one of the Sponsors, Proud Media, said plans have been put in place for “another beautiful journey in search of a worthy ambassador to endorse the beauty and prestige of the Nigerian brand’’.
It said the search will take place across the 36 states and Abuja, while casting would take place in four major cities; namely Lagos, Abuja, Port-Harcourt and Enugu.
It listed the qualities required from the aspiring young ladies to include a Nigerian citizen, must be between the ages of 18 and 25 years, be of good character, and not married, nor a mother or pregnant.
It added that aspirants must also speak fluent English, not have tattoos or piercings and be in reasonable good health to meet the job requirements.
The statement said the winner would go home with N5 million, a brand new SUV, one year paid apartment and all-expense paid trip, among others.
Miss Akudo Anyaha, who hails from Imo State is the current Queen.
The Miss Nigeria beauty pageant was instituted in 1957 and had provided a veritable platform for the ideas and dignity of the Nigerian woman.
The pageant provides exclusive platform to portray the beauty and affluent cultural heritage of the country to the rest of the world.
An employee of the UAC, Ms Grace Oyelude, won the first maiden edition of Miss Nigeria.
She used part of her £200 prize money to travel to England where she studied nursing. (NAN)
