Kogi pledges to support education transformation agenda

LOKOJA – Gov Idris Wada of Kogi has pledged the state’s readiness to support individuals whose focus was to impart knowledge and support its education transformation agenda.

Wada made the pledge in a statement by the Deputy Governor’s Press Secretary, Mr Michael Abu, on Sunday in Lokoja.

The state statement said Wada made the promise throught the Deputy Governor, Mr Yomi Awoniyi, at a book launch by a renowned educationist, Dr Bello Ibrahim, in Arabi Local Government Area of Kogi.

It said the knowledge gathered by the author and documented would be significant to the development of education in the state and country at large

The book titled “Pathfinder: The Footprints of Alhaji Ahmed Badamasui.

It said that Wada urged Nigerians to see politics as geared towards development.

It added that the present realities point to the fact that those in positions of authority must live above board and make service delivery their cardinal point.

The statement said the book would advance the need for a peaceful political process and development of religion in Ebira land in particular.

It described the book as one that would impact positively to the nation’s developmental politics, noting that knowledge is power.

The statement called on other individuals with skills to emulate the contributions of the author.

It said Dr Joseph Makoju, who was chairman at the occasion, noted that the book would enrich the fading political values of the area.

The statement said Makoju explained that reading would help to improve quality decision to be made by leaders.

It called on Nigerians to imbibe the culture of reading developmental books.

The statement also said that the author of the book, Ibrahim, noted that the book was aimed at contributing to the political development of Ebira land.

It said the book was his own contribution toward making the younger generation to shun politics of violence and other vices that would not mean well for the people.

It appealed to the people to embrace issue-based and developmental politics. (NAN)
