NCS wins double in the NITDA-Nihilent e-Governance Award

ABUJA – The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has won the Best Web Portal Category and Runner-up in the Best MDA Category awards at the just concluded Nigeria’s NITDA-Nihilent e-Governance Awards.
This is contained in a statement issued by the service’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Wale Adeniyi on Friday in Abuja.
The statement said that NITDA-Nihilent e-Governance Awards was a collaboration between the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Nihilent, to recognise and promote excellence in the implementation of e-Governance and ICT initiatives.
It said that the Nigeria Trade Hub (NTH), which won in the Best Web Portal Category, was a trader’s introduction to international trade in the country.
According to the statement, the portal provides importers/exporters, with the correct information to enable them make decisions about doing business in Nigeria.
“NTH provides information about all the Nigerian Regulatory Agencies, their contact details, processes, documents, fees and processing times that an importer or exporter will need to liaise with.
“This information helps them to obtain the necessary import permits and certificates that are required to ensure compliance,” it said.
The statement also said that the blueprint and roadmap initiatives for single window environment and the streamlining of Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) system to facilitate trade were recognised and awarded.
It further said that the initiatives won the Runner-up in the Best Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) Category.
The statement added that the honours once again vindicate the NCS modernisation and capacity building efforts, and recognise its long-term vision and hard work.
It commended the Techno Brain West Blue (TBWB), the service’s ICT partner in its modernisation programme for the support it had given NCS so far.
The statement said that the Managing Director of TBWB, Mr Valentina Mintah, however, congratulated the service for receiving such high honours from NITDA, the foremost authority for IT in Nigeria.
“The e-Governance awards are testament to the quality of service TBWB have rendered,” it said.
The statement added that TBWB Mintah also expressed confidence that the systems they have laid down would provide the basis for other MDAs to integrate seamlessly into Nigerian wide Trade eco‐system. (NAN)
