ABUJA – The management of Nigeria Prisons Football Club of Abuja says the club will soon unveil new players to fortify its team ahead of the 2014/2015 Nigeria Nation-Wide League (NNWL) season.
The club’s General Manager, Capt. Ali Linus, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja the club was poised to sign on about seven new players.
NAN reports that the Nigeria Prisons FC were relegated to the NNWL after finishing bottom of the Nigeria National League (NNL) 16-team table in the 2013/2014 season.
Linus said the club was also going to place no fewer than six players on the transfer market.
“Last season was a learning curve for the team, bearing in mind that it was our first stint in the NNL. But we gained a lot of experience, even though we were relegated.

“Now, we will have a crucial meeting with the club Chairman, Mr Akindele Adeshina, on January 10 to discuss a lot of issues which affect us and how we can improve in the coming season.
“The issues to be discussed will include the signing of new players as well as the improvement in players’ salaries and technical crew welfare package, to mention a few.

“These are all in our bid to ensure that we secure promotion back to the NNL after the next season,’’ he said.
Linus charged the club’s players and officials to focus on achieving the promotion target set by the management.
He urged the fans and supporters of the club to get behind it, promising that the mandate given to the management would be delivered.
The club general manager, however, called on lovers of the team to offer helpful advice on how to move the club forward.
He cautioned against distracting the team from its targets, adding that its technical crew led by coach Zibiri Brown should be allowed to concentrate on its assignment.
Linus said the players were ready to justify their registration with the club, adding that the club was satisfied with the programmes of coach Brown since his appointment.
“I must confess that our coach has been doing a great job and we will ensure that the management will continue to give him all the necessary support to achieve greater things for the club,’
