ZARIA – Acting Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, on Wednesday, solicited the support of traditional rulers in the country for a hitch-free general elections in 2015.
He made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, at his palace in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Abba said traditional rulers in the country had a vital role to play toward ensuring peace and stability in the society.
He promised to do everything possible to promote and project the image of the police and transform it to confront the present security challenges.
He said he had constituted two committees and one task force to check cow theft in the country.
Responding, the emir commended the police boss for the visit and prayed God to give him the wisdom to discharge his duties diligently.
He said it was the responsibility of every government to protect the lives and property of citizens.
He, however, added that the police had a role to play for the success of such effort. (NAN)
