Ezeh, who is a senior lecturer with the Political Science Department, Anambra State University, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Onitsha.
He tasked security agencies to be on high alert to tame ontoward pockets of violence that could possible erupt before, during and after the elections.
The lecturer said that security agencies must be prepared and ready to quell any form of violence ahead of the election.
“Because, certainly in a big democracy like the Nigeria prototype, you cannot immune it from pockets of violence; what we are talking is that let it br manageable.
“And if it happens per adventure, let us have all the necessary paraphernalia of power to curtail it.
“And let it not degenerate into a mix of religion, ethnicity and all that goes to make it a primitive condition of existence.
“So, I am foreseeing a situation where there are protestations.
“And so yes, I foresee some pockets of violence; people may say this is not what we want or this is what we want, it could lead to some level of misapplication of force.
“But what we are saying here is, let it be very manageable.
“And I believe that Nigerians, both in Diaspora and within, should now go beyond ethnic, religious and class orientations and begin now to foster relationships and close ranks.
“And begin to talk about how to beautify and make this particular election a game that is worth the name of the country as the giant of Africa.
“Because the whole World is watching, Africa is watching; and then especially against the backdrop of the purported postulations of America research – that 2015 is the D-day for Nigeria.’’
He, however, advised Nigerians to shun violence and tendencies that might ignite tension, strive and division. (NAN)
