ABUJA – The police command in the FCT has urged traditional rulers in the territory to assist it in fishing out those with intent to cause mayhem as the 2015 general elections draw nearer.
The call is contained in a statement issued by ASP Peter Okechukwu, the Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT on Friday.
Okechukwu said Mr Wilson Inalegwu, the Acting Commissioner of Police in the territory, made the call at a forum with heads of chiefdoms in the territory.
He said “you are our frontline warriors in effecting functional policing of the territory and its environs. You know those people whose lifestyles have suddenly changed within your communities.
“Feel free to report some of such sudden change to Divisional Police Officer (DPO) nearest to you.’’
The commissioner, who also advised the traditional rulers to be vigilant, stressed that crime prevention was not about use of guns, “but reporting trends and behaviours observed as strange to the appropriate quarters.’’ (NAN)
