OSOGBO – Dr Rufus Oloruntoyin, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun, on Wednesday urged stakeholders to work together to ensure free, fair and credible general elections in 2015.
Oloruntoyin made the plea at the public presentation of voters handbook in Osogbo.
He said the sustenance of the nation’s democracy could only be possible when there was collective effort in the democratisation process.
Oloruntoyin said that INEC was ready to support any NGO, civil society organisations and faith based organisations in the area of public education and sensitisation.
“We are also ready to partner with anyone in the area of voter and civic education in order to provide proper information to citizens,’’ Oloruntoyin said.
The state NOA Director, Mr Remi Omowon, urged the political class, INEC, media, judiciary, civil society organisations and security agencies to work together for the sustenance of democracy.
Omowon said that the partnership would help to ensure a responsible and accountable conduct of their performance in the forthcoming general elections.
“The interface and sustained consultations, among all political and non-political stakeholders is necessary for the successful conduct of the election.
“INEC should be commended for holding several of such consultations and interface with various political actors and security agencies, ’’ Omowon said. (NAN)
