AKWANGA – Mr Yunana Iliya, Nasarawa State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has appealed to all governorship aspirants on the platform of the party to dialogue and present a consensus candidate.
Iliya made the appeal on Thursday in Akwanga at a stakeholders’ meeting.
He said that a consensus candidate would brighten the chances of the party and avert clashes of interest that might polarise the party ahead of the 2015 general elections.
He also called the aspirants to put the interest of the party above personal ambition.
“The success the PDP recorded during the recent local government election in the state was possible due to consensus candidature.[eap_ad_2] “We believe that if the same is repeated for the governorship, the challenge encountered in 2011 would be avoided,” Iliya said.
The PDP state chairman said if the aspirants failed to agree on consensus candidate, the party would conduct a transparent primary election.
He said that six persons had indicated interest to contest the governorship seat on the platform of the party. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
