ENUGU – PDP Youth REAP in Enugu State has called for a consensus among the various interests jostling for the party’s governorship ticket for the 2015 governorship election.
The State Coordinator of the group, Mr Eberechukwu Nwodo, said this on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu.
Nwodo said that the call became necessary in order to sustain the prevailing peace and unity among party faithful in the state.
He said that the leadership of the party in the area needed to work assiduously to make sure that the party prosecuted the elections as a united family. Nwodo said that the zoning of the party’s governorship ticket to Enugu North had stopped whatever acrimony that would have troubled the PDP apart in the state.
“The PDP Youth REAP is happy with the move aimed at creating justice and equity among the zones; Enugu East and West had taken their shots on the position,” he said.
He appealed to politicians from Enugu North Senatorial district to work as a united family to produce a candidate acceptable to the electorate.
“We love the way our people are going about it now because if you look around, you cannot see any poster. Our people should not waste their money in competing.
“We know that some of the aspirants are going round for their consultations.
“It is not a crime to have an aspiration, but we wish the governor would be allowed to nominate a candidate that will take over from him.
“The highest consultation should be with the governor. That is why we are waiting for his pronouncement, and whoever the governor supports will be our candidate as a youth group,” Nwodo said. (NAN)
