ABUJA – Senate President David Mark on Monday assured that he would continue to advance the course of peace, unity and progress in Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by Paul Mumeh, Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President.
Mark said he would remain steadfast and committed to the ideals of nationhood in a manner that would give every citizen a sense of belonging.
Responding to his endorsement by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Benue South Senatorial District as sole candidate for the 2015 Senatorial election, Mark promised to serve the people with the fear of God.
The senate president, who spoke through the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, assured that he would uphold the principle of fairness, honesty and justice to all, irrespective of ethnicity or religion.
“I am humbled by your desire for me to continue to serve. This resolution by you is historical and monumental.
“It has reinforced me to continue to do all that is right to the glory of God and to the benefit of mankind. [eap_ad_2] “With God and the overwhelming support of you all, I will not fail. You have proven to be my pillar,’’ he said.
Mark promised not to relent on his efforts in ensuring that the society became a better place for all Nigerians.
The Deputy Governor of Benue State, Chief Stephen Lawani, according to the statement, reaffirmed the commitment of government to ensuring that Mark was endorsed by PDP in the zone.
He said Mark was the best that the senate could produce.
Chairman of the PDP in Benue, Dr Emmanuel Agbo and Vice Chairman Zone C, Mr Moses Ajima, in their separate comments, commended the efforts of Mark.
They noted that the people could not afford to substitute him in view of his overwhelming contributions to the development of the state.
Deputy Speaker, Benue House of Assembly, Dr. Steve Onmeje, moved a motion that was unanimously adopted by the people to endorse Mark. (NAN) [eap_ad_3]
