Yola- Mr Sunday Wugira, the Director General, Dr Ahmed Modibbo, the gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) in Adamawa, said the party has a solid programme for the total transformation of the state, if elected.
Wugira told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Yola that Modibbo was the only candidate that had gone round the state to campaign to the people.
According to him, the PDM flagbearer had also visited areas affected by insurgency, including Mubi and Maiha that were recently recovered by the military to condole with the victims.
Wugira said Modibbo’s track record in transforming primary and junior secondary education when he served as the Executive Secretary of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) was one among many advantages that he has above his rivals.
“It is unfortunate that other party candidates’ selling point is hiding under the names of their presidential candidates.
“You see APC candidate campaigning with the name of General Buhari and that of PDP with President Jonathan instead of them telling the electorate what they have for Adamawa if elected governor,” Wugira said.
He lamented on the state of infrastructures, healthcare, education, agriculture, civil service and water supply in Adamawa, saying the emergence of PDM government would make a difference.
On the provision of free ride to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Yola to Mubi and other recovered areas initiated by the Modibbo Campaign Organisation, Wugira said the measure was part of Modibbo’s effort to alleviate the suffering of the IDPs.
Wugira said the programme had helped many of the IDPs who were farmers to return home and harvest their crops which were over due for harvest.
“Many of those farmers in Mubi, Maiha and other areas had since harvested their farms and pick up their lives once again,” Wugira said.
He urged INEC and other stakeholders to ensure that the effort to ensure IDPs vote in the general election materialised, adding that the right of eligible Nigerians to vote was so precious to be wasted. (NAN)
