Kano Pillars defeated Samba FC 3-2 in a friendly match played at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Wednesday having overcoming last Thursday’s armed robbery attack which left five injured from gun shots.
A goal each from Ubong Ekpai, Christian Obiozor and Rabiu Ali helped the reigning Nigeria Professional Football League champions stun their local rivals in the five-goal thriller. Pillars grabbed their vital lead through Ekpai in the 38th minute ending the first half 1-0.
In the second half, Sai Madu Gida’s new recruit Obiozor double the lead for the Caf Champions League campaigners before Ali added the third in the 65th minutes. However, goals from Auwali Ali and Abubakar Naminta in the 75th and 80th respectively were not enough to deny the Nigerian champions to recording such an inspiring victory.
