LAGOS – The Secretary of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Chinedu Ezealah-Ogundare, said on Saturday that para trials were usually held to help the federation to select players for tournaments, as the need arises.
Ezealah-Ogundare told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the country had numerous players who had what it takes to do well in competitions.
“The players are many, so we needed to narrow them down to a minimum and that is why this competitions are necessary.
“Now, we have a list of both male and female players that can be considered for tournaments, ‘’ she said.
The NTTF scribe said that when it was time for the Paralympics, these selected players are going to be made to compete among themselves, before we make a final selection of those to represent us.
“Before the Paralympics, there will be qualifiers for all countries and it is these people we will bring together to compete among themselves, before we can make the final selection.
“They are too many, we can’t take them all together at once,’’ she explained.
