Abuja  –   The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Thursday said it distributed 10,000 Hajj slots allocated to approved private tour operator companies in the country.

The information is contained in a statement issued by NAHCON’s Head of Media, Uba Mana, made available in Abuja.

The statement quoted Mana as noting that a total of 196 companies had earlier applied to participate in the 2016 Hajj exercise.

He said the I58 approved and licenced tour operators had fulfilled all the conditions required for allocation of Hajj slots by the commission.

The NAHCON head of media added that screening was conducted with due diligence in line with NAHCON’s Establishment Act 2006 and licences issued to approved
companies.

He explained that names of approved companies had been forwarded to relevant Saudi Arabian authorities for further processing.

He advised the public, especially intending pilgrims, to patronise only licenced companies in preparation for the 2016 Hajj. (NAN)
