Ado-Ekiti – The Head of Coach of Ekiti United FC of Ado-Ekiti, Kehinde Anjorin on Friday praised his team for the 3-1, victory over Golden FC in the ongoing FA Cup competition.
“I am delighted at the performance of my team,’’ Anjorin told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti in reaction to the match played on Thursday at the Oluyemi Kayode stadium, Ado-Ekiti.
The match had witnessed a large turnout of supporter of both teams.
The coach, who described the victory of the team as `dramatic’, said in spite of the fact that they were trailing by a lone goal in the first half, they were able to overcome pressures to eventually win the match.
Coach Sunday Aduloju of Golden said he was disappointment at the eventual outcome of the game.
He said: “I expected my boys to perform better in the second half, but they all relaxed and that is why the better team won match’’.
However, in the first half the two teams played tactical formations and striving to take possession of the ball and spraying accurate passes.
In the 22nd minute, Golden appeared to have taken better initiative to contain the United defenders through counter attacks and scoring a goal in the process.
United. which was forced to make detour in their pattern of play, tried to seize the midfield, which paid off for them with an equaliser to level scores at 1-1.
As the match progressed, the United penetrate the defence of Golden to increase their goals to 2-1 and volleyed another to end proceedings at 3-1.
Top World Academy and United have now qualified for the final of the competition. The state finals would be played on April 3. (NAN)
