Omu-Aran – Oba Solomon Oloyede, the traditional ruler of Isanlu-Isin, Isin Local Government Area of Kwara, has appealed to his people to ensure prompt payment of their taxes to accelerate development of the area.
Oloyede, who is also the chairman of Isin Traditional Council, made the appeal during a stakeholders meeting in Oke-onigbin, a nearby town to the council.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the periodic meeting organised to foster development within the council areas, attracted traditional rulers and community leaders from within and outside the council.
Oloyede said the call for prompt payment of taxes was to assist the government in its developmental programmes, especially at the grassroots.
He noted that most of the communities were in dire need of development in the areas of health, education, rural road network and human capital development.
“Development all over the world is a collective responsibility.
“We cannot afford to be behind in the efforts to develop and transform the communities.
“That is the much reason we have to exercise our civic responsibility by paying promptly the outlined taxes to attract the desired development,” the monarch said.
Oloyede, who celebrated eight years on the throne recently, commended the unity and peaceful co-existence of the people and urged them to maintain the tempo.
According to him, the traditional institution will not relent in its responsibility of ensuring a comfortable living for the people of various communities.
The monarch also used the opportunity to appeal for the execution of more government projects in the area.
According to him, such intervention will go a long way in boosting the socio-economic well-being of the people of the communities.
