Abuja – Rev. Fr. Francis Odigbo, the Parish Priest of Christ the King Catholic Church, Kurudu, Abuja, has admonished Christians to shun worldly living and focus on godly activities that would engender spiritual transformation.
Odigbo said this while delivering a Homily to commemorate “The Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ” on Sunday at Saint Joseph Mukassa Catholic Church, Gidan Mangoro, Abuja.
He took his text from Matthew 17:1-9, where it was recorded that Jesus Christ, while with two of his disciples, Peter and James, was taken up on the Mount of Transfiguration, to the glory of God.
The priest advised Christians to seek pursue things that that would transform their lives for the benefit of the society and desist from activities that had no value.
He warned Christians to forsake anything that could stand as distractions to their spiritual lives.
“The Kingdom of God should be primary while any other things should be secondary.
“Don’t allow anything to prevent you from pursuing that goal of eternity.
“You should yearn and desire things of eternal life and always know that a crown has to come through a cross.
“When you are facing difficulty, always remember that those that persevere shall win the crown and shall enjoy heaven,” the priest said. (NAN)
