Kano – Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on Friday rewarded Kwese Premier Basketball League champions Kano Pillars and the state’s para-soccer team with plots of land and cash gifts.
The governor’s reward, which was announced during a reception at the Government House in Kano, was for the two teams’ performances last season.
“We commend both teams for making the state proud and also bringing back the lost glory of the state in sports,” Ganduje said during the ceremony.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ganduje allocated a plot of land to each player and official of Kano Pillars basketball team and the Kano state para-soccer team.
The governor also gave to each player of Pillars basketball team a cash gift of N500,000, with the head coach getting N700,000, and the two assistant coaches N350,000 each.
The team doctor, secretary and assistant secretary also got N300,000 each, while the team’s bus driver got N100,000.
Also, the state’s para-soccer players received N100,000 each, while the team’s head coach and assistant coach got N150,000 and N120,000 respectively.
NAN reports that the state para-soccer team won the National Para-Soccer League, while the Kano Pillars Basketball Club won the Kwese basketball league.(NAN)
