Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Atiku Abubakar has retraced his steps and formally joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, a party he left some four years ago.
This is coming more than a week after he dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress on the grounds that the party has refused to purge itself of arbitrariness and unconstitutionality, and further accused the party of institutpng a regime of a draconian clampdown on all forms of democracy within the party and the government it produced.
The former vice-president made the announcement on Facebook on Sunday.
He said the complaints he had with the PDP, under which he was vice-president from 1999-2007, had been resolved, laying the groundwork for his return.
Turaki Adamawa, Abubakar is expected to contest the 2019 presidential election.
