Akure\ – Tajudeen Akinyemi, Chairman, Ondo State Football Agency, says preparation by Sunshine Queens for the 2017/2018 Nigeria Women Professional Football League (NWPL) is in top gear.
This is contained in a statement signed by the team’s Media Officer, Michael Akintunde and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Akure.
According to the chairman, the team will surpass its past records in the women elite league.
Akinyemi said efforts were on to restructure the team ahead of the new season for a better and purposeful outing.
Meanwhile, the team had announced January 14 as the resumption date for retained players and new players to start preparations ahead of the new season.
Team manager of the Ondo state sponsored female side, Mojisola Adekanye disclosed that the screening exercise will commence on the January 15 and end on January 28.
According to the statement, 17 retained players are expected to join the new ones.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NWPL according to reports will kick-off on a yet disclosed date in March.
