Enugu – Rangers International FC say they are leaving nothing to chance in the quest to beat hosts Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna on Sunday in the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The club’s Media Officer, Norbert Okolie, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Friday that the Flying Antelopes would ensure they collect the game’s three points
Rangers had drawn with the Minna side last season, and were now 3-0 winners some days ago against Yobe Desert Stars in a Match Day 15 fixture in Enugu.
“Even though Tornadoes are a good side and we know that the match will be difficult, but we have resolved to beat them before their fans.
“We have been looking for another three points at away and that nearly happened in Omoku against Go Round FC where we drew 2-2,’’ he said.
He said the Enugu-based club’s defeat by Plateau United on Feb. 28 had made the players and officials to sit up, bringing about a change in their fortunes.
“Since then, we have played four matches and got two draws and two wins. The players are brimming with confidence and they have started scoring from all angles.
“Scoring more than a goal in an away match against Go Round FC and three goals in our last match at home for the first time is a positive statement.
“In our last match when we beat Yobe Desert Stars 3-0, it was a reward for the technical crew’s hard work.
“Our technical crew has been having sleepless nights over the inability of the strikers to convert scoring chances.
“Now that we have arrested the situation, I believe that we are not going to be dry of goals in any match,’’ Okolie said.
He praised the technical crew led by Olugbenga Ogunbote for putting in their all to ensure that the goals started pouring in matches.
The club spokesman urged the players to aim to score early against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday in order to unsettle their hosts.(NAN)
