Abuja – The National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) says it is committed to investing in human capital development to advance national development.
Prof. Okechukwu Ukwuoma, Director-General of the centre said this while receiving a Pan-Regional Leadership award from Trans-African Youth Initiative (TAYI).
The director-general was honoured for his innovative leadership in the deployment of science, technology and innovation to the attainment of sustainable development in Nigeria
Mr Isaac Oluyi, the Public Relations Officer of the centre, made this known in a statement on Thursday.
The statement quoted Ukwuoma as saying that the recognition was a testament to the avowed commitment of members of staff of NACETEM to their duties in training and equipping citizens with valuable tools that would engender development.
“It is this commitment that brings about a dividend of continued investment in human capital development towards effective delivery on the Agency’s mandates.
“We will not rest on our oars until Nigeria takes her rightful place amidst comity of nations in the area of Science, Technology and Innovation,’’ he said.
Mr Kehinde Idowu, the Country Representative of Trans-African Youth Initiative in Nigeria and leader of the delegation lauded the chief executive for his contributions to national development.
Idowu also commended NACETEM for its pivotal role in the use of science and technology as a key driver of the Change Agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
He said, “if efforts of Agencies such as NACETEM’s in repositioning the nation are sustained, Nigeria will soon be a leading country in science and technology.”
The delegation comprised of Ghanaian, Ivorians as well as Nigerians and members of the management staff were present at the presentation of the award.
NAN reports TAYI is an association of youths which cut across African countries that come together to drive, promote and contribute to the development and application of science, technology and innovation toward eradication of poverty in the continent.
