Abuja –  Justice Vera Venda of the FCT High Court, Jabi on Wednesday ordered two men, Sunday Dauda and Peter Ntu, accused of conspiracy and murder by the Police, to be remanded in Kuje Prison.

The judge gave the order following an oral application for bail made by their counsels, Samuel Ajayi and Festus Onifade.

The judge said the offences for which the accused were charged was not ordinarily bailable.

Venda also told the defense counsels to come before the court with a formal application in writing.

She adjourned the matter until June 6 to hear the new bail application.

The defendants, who had earlier pleaded not guilty of the charges against them, were said to have allegedly murdered Mr Kennedy Mba on July 9, 2017.

The prosecutor, Mr Orji Kalu, told the court that the deceased, a businessman based in the UK, was alleged to have been killed in his Abuja residence, No. 21, IBM Haruna Crescent, Utako, Abuja, when he came on a visit to Nigeria.

Kalu said that one of the defendants, Dauda, was a domestic staff to the deceased whenever he was in Nigeria.

The prosecutor said that on the day of the incident, Dauda conspired with Ntu, who he invited the house and they both carried out the act.

Kalu said that the offences contravene sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code, CAP P6 Law of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2010. (NAN)
