Vote-of-no-confidence: South West chairmen of Accord Party back Nalado

By David Adeoye

Ibadan –   The chairmen of Accord Party in the South West Zone on Tuesday refuted the purported vote-of-no-confidence passed on the National chairman of the party, Alhaji Mohammed Nalado, on Sunday.

Chief Muda Ogunsola, the leader of the South West chairmen, stated this on Tuesday in Ibadan while addressing newsmen on the purported vote-of-no-confidence resolution passed on Nalado.

According to Ogunsola, Nalado and other national executives of the party had done nothing wrong to warrant the resolution.

“ All state chairmen of Accord across the six zones, including the South West states, are in support of Nalado and the few persons that called themselves South West leaders are unknown to us.

”None of the state chairmen and leaders of the party in the South West, including our zonal leader, Adebukola Ajaja, participated in the purported vote-of-no-confidence, except Olusegun Fanibe of Osun state and a few other persons.

”All the allegations levelled against the national chairman were false and cannot hold water.

“ Therefore, we warn such individuals to look elsewhere for actualisation of their personal ambitions because Accord is a well organised party and no individual can impose his or her personal interest on us.

”Our resolutions at the end of the Accord South West meeting on May 13 was that state chairmen and members should go back to their respective states to woo more members into Accord.

”We disassociate ourselves from the baseless allegations and the seven days ultimatum given to Nalado to resign and we have decided to petition the national headquarters of Accord for necessary action, ” Amusa stated.

Mrs Adebukola Ajaja, a leader of the party in the South West, described the call for the resignation of Nalado as unfortunate.

Ajaja said there was never a time that South West leaders resolved to pass a vote-of-no-confidence on the national chairman, saying the few persons behind the resolution had personal agenda.

She vowed that the party in the South West Zone would not subject itself to desperate politicians whose aims were to hijack the party structures and then use them for bargaining.

”I attended the May 13 South West meeting in Ibadan and nothing of such happened, so I wonder when and where such resolutions were taken.

”I urge all Accord members to disregard the call for resignation of the national chairman of our party; what happened was the handiwork of enemies of Accord that are bent on destroying the party for their selfish interest, ” Ajaja said.

State chairmen present at the news conference were Michael Agbesua (Ondo), Muda Ogunsola (Oyo), Olugbodi Omobola(Lagos) and Samuel Odeoba ( Ekiti).

The Osun state chairman of the party and some other members had on Sunday passed a vote-of -no- confidence on Nalado and called for his resignation within seven days.

Nalado was accused of engaging in anti-party activities which contravenes Section 20 of the party’s constitution. (NAN)
