How Twitter Brought Brutal SARS Policeman who Extorted a Lagos Lady to His Waterloo

ABUJA (Sundiata Post) On Wednesday, a lady known as Princes Ife posted on Twitter that some policemen (SARS) accosted her and her team on the way and forcefully demanded ransom from them without any reason whatsoever other than extortion and molestation.

In her tweet, she copied Yomi Shogunle, the Lagos Assistant Commissioner of Police who quickly alerted the Police Complaints Unit headed by him as well to begin investigation.

24 hours later, he confirmed on Twitter that the suspected policeman whose account received the ransom from the lady had been arrested and undergoing investigation.

The internet has suddenly become the place where people not only share their abusive experiences with the Nigerian police, but where they are beginning to seek redress as well.

It is the hope of many social media users that the case of Omotosho Olusola, the arrested policeman will alert more like him to begin to behave in civil and professional manners.
