June 12 and The Place of Political Opportunists, By Na-Allah Moh’d Zagga

ABUJA (Sundiata Post) We have opportunists from all ethnic groups who wrecked June 12. Chief Alex Akinyele is a Yoruba man, but he was defending IBB on BBC over the annulment of June 12 election. Arthur Nzeribe is an Igbo man and he led the effort to frustrate June by going to court to have June 12 election declared illegal. He was IBB agent. Daniel Kanu is also a young Igbo man, not a Northerner or Hausa/Fulani member or Kanuri man, but he led the well funded national campaign to persuade Abacha to succeed himself or continue in office as life President. Did Igbo presidency matter to Kanu, provided he was making his money by rooting for Abacha? I will go on and on with more examples of the roles played by opportunists to scuttle June 12. Opportunists are like mercenaries: they are motivated by the rewards rather than the cause. They don’t do it for Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba, they do it for their pockets
