Abuja ( Sundiata Post) – The All Progressives Congress Deputy Publicity Secretary, Comrade Timi Frank has called on the National leadership of the party, to as a matter of urgency, wade into the feud between Minister of Transport, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Magnus Abe.
Timi said the crisis which revolves around who flies the party’s flag as governorship candidate in 2019, will likely destroy the state chapter, if nothing serious is done to resolve the ongoing disagreement.
He also warned the concern parties to leave Senate President Bukola Saraki out of the crisis rocking the state chapter but focus attention on finding amicable resolution of the main issue.
The APC Chieftain made the call recently while reacting to the widely reported sack of some loyalists to Senator Abe by the APC leader in the state, Hon Rotimi Amaechi over Abe’s 2019 governorship ambition.
According to Timi, “Our leaders need to be proactive in resolving some of these crises. What is happening in Kogi, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Kano and many other states today is as a result of lack of capacity by the APC National Working Committee (NWC) under Chief John Oyegun, which I have always warned about.
The Deputy Publicity Secretary, who warned against the repeat of Kogi experience in Rivers State, added that the Kogi case has started claiming lives of people that will vote for the party tomorrow.
He said, “That of Kogi State has started claiming lives of people we will need their votes tomorrow. Therefore, Rivers State should not join the league of crisis bedeviled APC State chapters when we urgently call the political gladiators involve to order.”
While reacting to the statement credited to Transport Minister, to the effect that Senate President Bukola Saraki is his enemy, Timi Frank said if it true, “Amaechi should not forget in a hurry that it was the same Senator Saraki that cleared him to become Minister against all odds.
“Timi urged Ameachi who is the leader of APC in Rivers State, to allow internal democracy to thrive and follow due process if any of the caucus member is to be removed as alleged, saying, “the era of imposition is far gone.
“I believe that it is only God that can give power and not man, despite the power tussles. The imposition that has destroyed other parties should not be allowed in APC, not only in Rivers but across the country. The popular candidate must be allowed to fly our flag if we are truly practicing democracy,” Timi said.
Sundiata Post recalls that Senator Abe played a central role in support of Hon Rotimi Amaechi when the Rivers State House of Assembly was divided at the tail end of Amaechi’s administration as governor of Rivers State.
