Lafia – Mr Labaran Maku, the Nasarawa State, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), has advised his critics in the state to focus on issue-based campaigns as the general elections draw nearer.
Maku, who is also a former Minister of Information, gave the advice in an interview with newsmen in Lafia on Tuesday.
He is also the National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA)
He expressed optimism that he would win the 2019 governorship election in the state.
Maku said that all the allegations and criticisms against him were baseless.
He advised the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) and the All Progressives Congress( APC) in the state to focus on what they would offer to the people of the state rather than criticising him during their campaigns.
“My critics are frustrated because they are have discovered that APGA is everywhere in the state as the cocks are crowing every day and night.
“The people of the state are with me and I am with them and by God’s grace, victory is ours.
“No amount of criticisms from my critics will stop the people from supporting and electing me to be their governor in 2019.
“I will tackle insecurity and other challenges facing the state,if elected governor,” he said.
The governorship candidate also promised to prioritise infrastructure development and tackle unemployment in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the ruling APC in the state and the PDP in the state recently alleged that APGA in the state does not have the structure to win the governorship seat of the state.
NAN also reports that the PDP governorship candidate, Mr David Unbugadu, had accused Mr Maku of being ungrateful to the PDP that offered him(Maku) the political opportunities at various levels and yet he left the party.
