Defamation: Atiku Demands Apology, Retraction, Payment of N500m Damages From Buhari’s Aide, Onochie

Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has demanded a written retraction and apology from the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie over her libelous and defamatory publication against him.

Atiku who wrote through his counsel, Mike Ozekhome, also asked for a payment of N500, 000,000 (Five hundred million) as damages for the false and malicious publication, insisted that the retraction must be published in six national dailies circulating in Nigeria and one international daily as well as on all the social media platforms, wherein the said defamatory publication was made.

 The Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie had on 7th of May 2019, on her twitter handle page and also published globally online in the social and other print media quoted as saying that:  “Atiku is on  UAE watchlist – security sources. Security operatives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are keeping a close tab on a former Nigerian Vice Pres Atiku Abubakar who has been in the Middle East nation for several weeks now. What is he doing there? Me: Shopping for Terrorists?”
