Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Former federal lawmaker that represented Kaduna Central senatorial district at to the 8th senate, Senator Shehu Sani has said that the tussle for the political control of Edo state has turned the state to war torn Syria.
The Comrade Senator who was reacting to the unfolding developments in Edo state ahead of the September 19 governorship election in the state took to his Twitter handle and tweeted thus:
“Edo has become Syria; Obaseki is Assad,Wike is Putin, Baba is Trump, Jagaban is Nathanyahu…. with Saudi, Turkey, Iran and Terror groups all in there.”
Sundiata Post recalls that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami on Friday directed the Inspector General of Police Adamu to provide security for the newly inaugurated 17-man legislature sympathetic to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Pastor Ize-Iyamu.
Earlier before the order from Malami, President Muhammadu Buhari had endorsed the candidature of Ize-Iyamu and hailed him for his emergence as the party flagbearer in the state.
Prior to the above, the Police on Thursday besieged the Edo State Assembly in an alleged attempt to provide protection for some lawmakers for a forcefully take over of control of the Assembly leadership.
Obaseki on his part, was said to have removed the roof of the State Assembly under the guise of renovating the complex to stop the lawmakers from gaining access to the premises.
on his part, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Friday berated Governor Godwin Obaseki for preventing the representatives of the people of Edo state to take part in the lawmaking process in the state, describing it as an impeachable offence.
Similarly, the Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike has said that no sane persons will vote the APC’s Pastor Ize-Iyamu who is facing corruption charges with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission while the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on the political gladiators kn Edo state to reign in their proxies to allow the people of Edo to choose who they want to govern to them.
